Here is the Who, Why, and How of us… A Vineyard non-profit, ACT TWO Second Hand Store exists to create a sustainable and perpetual source of funding in support of our vibrant local culture of education in theater, music, and visual performance arts on Martha's Vineyard. This is done by providing direct grants to other non-profit organizations for their Arts and Education programs. Eligible organizations include Community Theater, Camps, After School Programs in the public schools, and other non-profit Arts and Education programs. All residual income from the sale of donated new and gently used items (tax donation receipts available) at the retail Second Hand Store will be gifted annually on Island. As an added benefit our model recycles clothing, jewelry, art, furniture, and housewares giving new life to these items while reducing the burden of waste disposal, and providing a year-round affordable community shopping resource for locals and visitors alike. Our business model utilizes a group of vetted, highly dedicated part-time employees and volunteers thus keeping payroll costs down while awarding more revenue to our cause. We work with clergy, public service organizations, and other resources to discreetly serve our neighbors in crisis and immediate need. Our co-founders have had great success in the past providing work and training opportunities for individuals with learning and physical challenges. We collaborate with the schools and court system to help people redirect their course through community service. We aim to be a place where all are welcome, even if just to stop in and say "hello". Being good neighbors to our fellow businesses and residents is central to our mission. Kevin Ryan & Alissa Keenan, co-founders ACT TWO
